Color Story

The color story is built around a bold and luxurious palette: a deep, rich plum accent wall grounds the space, beautifully contrasted by crisp white and soft grey on the remaining walls. Emerald green velvet chairs introduce a vibrant jewel tone, while polished gold and brass metals provide opulent accents, creating a sophisticated and glamorous harmony.

About the Original Room

The original dining room was steeped in a traditional, somewhat dated aesthetic, characterized by busy floral wallpaper, heavy patterned drapes, a traditional wooden dining set, and wall-to-wall green carpeting. While functional, it lacked a cohesive modern style and felt heavy, cluttered, and dim, desperately needing a fresh, sophisticated update to unlock its full potential.

Transformation Journey

We embarked on a complete stylistic overhaul, stripping away the old-fashioned elements to create a dramatic and luxurious Modern Glamour dining experience. The journey began by replacing the dated wallpaper and carpet with a bold plum accent wall, crisp white paint, and elegant dark hardwood flooring. We then introduced sleek, contemporary furniture, including a striking black glass dining table and plush emerald velvet chairs. Statement lighting, a mirrored credenza, and opulent gold accents completed the transformation, creating a space that is both grand and inviting, perfectly aligned with the desired Modern Glamour aesthetic.

Designer Notes

This project was particularly satisfying because of the dramatic before-and-after contrast. The original room presented a significant challenge in terms of its outdated aesthetic, but it also offered a blank canvas for a truly transformative design. I'm especially proud of how the deep plum accent wall anchors the room, creating a luxurious backdrop for the emerald green chairs and gold elements. The balance between the bold colors and the reflective surfaces truly captures the essence of Modern Glamour, making it an exciting space for entertaining. The choice of dark wide-plank flooring provides a solid, elegant base that elevates the entire design.
